One of the benefits having friends (who were also there for the emergence of house music), is that every now and then they remind you about a track that you have forgotten. This is a prime example.

Adeva (aka. Adeva!) is widely recognized as the Queen of House. Her confidence and strong vocals are responsible for hits like Warning and Respect. These tracks lit up the dance floor in the late 80’s when she dropped her self-titled debut album *1989

This song is a showstopper

I Thank You is more than a hit. It’s an anthem that embodies the joy and excitement of this special time in music. Here in Toronto it was embraced by DJs and late night club goers.

My friend Andrew sent me a mix by our friend Aki (Cosmos Records) *1996. This is the first track off that incredible set. I felt compelled for some reason to post this song on Reminisce immediately. Back in 1996 Aki played at some of our most memorable house parties when we lived at 192 Spadina Avenue. This song set off a flood of memories that each of us felt today.

Grace Jones energy with gospel undertones that are impossible to ignore. Adeva just found her way back into my rotation again. Thankful for this song, my old friends and this influential Artist from my teens.
